Math centers should be an integral part of a “live” math environment to maximize math minutes, provide qualitative practice for what has been taught, differentiate, and provoke thought with challenging activities requiring perseverance. Marcy looks at a few simple tools to engage students in meaningful center activities: tiles, hundred charts, games, tangrams, and dominoes.
